Open Positions
We are delighted to announce multiple open PhD and Postdoctoral Researcherpositions within the Cluster of Excellence BlueMat: Water-Driven Materials.
About BlueMat:
BlueMat explores a bold, nature-inspired vision: to develop sustainable and interactive material systems whose functionality is revealed in water or aqueous environments, or which derive unique performance from water’s special properties. By focusing on hybrid, multiscale structures and water-driven behaviour—distinct from traditional engineering materials—BlueMat is at the forefront of materials research.
At its core are interdisciplinary research areas spanning mechanical materials, fluid-transport materials, photonic materials and energy materials—together with advanced capabilities in imaging, modelling, data and exploitation & experiencing.
What we are looking for:
We invite ambitious, creative and motivated early-career researchers (both at the PhD and Post-Doc level) who are excited to work across disciplines, embrace experimental and computational methods, and contribute to cutting-edge projects in sustainable materials. Ideal candidates will
have:
• A strong academic background in materials science, mechanical engineering, physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, photonics or a related discipline.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills; international applicants are welcome.
• A willingness to engage with complex water-material interaction phenomena, novel multiscale design and interdisciplinary research.
